If you’re lucky enough to have a far-flung adventure in the pipeline then the last thing you’re probably thinking about is the flight. However, long-haul flights really are quite a different kettle of fish from hopping on a plane for just a couple of hours. Whilst anybody can sit still, sleep, or somehow amuse themselves for a short period of time, there are extra factors to consider if you’re travelling for six hours or more. If you’ve not put much thought into preparing for your flight yet then we’ve got some tips that will ensure that everything goes smoothly and hopefully, will help to make the time fly by.

Get Holiday Ready

With such busy lives, many of us often wish for a moment alone that we can spend exactly how we wish and if you get into the right head space about it, then a long-haul flight can be just that. Arriving on holiday looking like you’ve slept in a hedge is not uncommon and nothing to be ashamed of. After all, planes aren’t renowned for being the most comfortable sleeping spots. However, it doesn’t have to be the case if you don’t want it to be. Achieving a healthy glow when your plane touches down is remarkably easy and the perfect way to fit in some self-care before your big adventure.

First of all, if you’re not already sure then it’s a good idea to find some skincare that suits your skin (don’t forget that bottles can only be 100ml maximum). With your skincare packed it’s time to start the regime as soon as the plane takes off. Start with a cleanse, exfoliate and toner, you’ll need to dampen a flannel for this. Next follow up with serums, moisturiser and eye cream, ready for a relaxing sleep and to look glowy on your arrival.

In-Flight Entertainment

Making sure that you have a selection of games to play is always a good idea for long flights. Many of us start with good intentions of getting through some work or finishing that book that we never get around to, but if you’re flying for more than 6 hours, you’re going to need some time to unwind. Games are a good choice as you can mix it up between offline titles and online.

Now, many airlines provide Wi-Fi on their long-haul flights, which really opens up the gaming possibilities. Those travelling to a country with a different language, or a country with some popular national games might choose to look for that online. If you’re planning a trip to Thailand then playing online poker (โป๊กเกอร์ออนไลน์) with the Thai language can be a good way to get in a little Thai practice in as fun a way as possible. Plus, Asiabet offers an online poker service to Thai players, so if you find you’re good at poker and you enjoy it, then you’ll be able to play safely and securely during your vacation. If you forget a phone, tablet or laptop then you’ll be left playing the games provided in the back of seats by the airline and nobody wants that.

Ditch Plane Food

Many of us start a whole body detox before heading away on holiday and it’s a shame to lose the benefits of that before you even touch down. Owing to the kitchen constraints of aeroplanes, food isn’t always great. It has to be pre-packaged, shelf-stable and caters to the widest variety of tastes possible, which means it often contains far too much salt and fat and actually, doesn’t even taste that great. If you’re dead set against bringing your own food then opt for a vegan meal, as you’ll be able to avoid most of the nasty stabilising ingredients.

On the other hand, if you don’t mind packing your own food, then it’s a great idea to take the time to. Bringing crunchy fruits and vegetables that are packed with vitamins and minerals won’t only be good for your digestion, but it’ll also be great for your skin. Aeroplane air conditioning can be very drying, so making sure you stay hydrated by drinking plenty and eating lots of moisture-rich foods will help to combat those effects. As well as this, bringing something to chew during take-off and landing can help to reduce the effects that altitude has on your ears and sinuses, making your whole flight a good deal more comfortable.
